These Days 2020 - 2026

These Days began on 21 January 2020. Every day I made a drawing on single sheet of toilet paper. Using the visual language of Admitting the Possibilities of Error I also noted the dominant news event of that day — initially pandemic death numbers, and later also war, catastrophe, political upheaval and climate change related events. The use of toilet paper came from the absurd early panic of COVID, but remained for its fragile vulnerability and scroll-like potential for compact storage and monumental display. At least once a year I performed a full unrolling of all the rolls.

From 15–20 January 2026, a family health emergency meant I could not make the drawing for five days — the first significant break in the work. That interruption clarified something I had felt for some time: I no longer wanted These Days to be anchored to overwhelming global events, but to shift toward smaller, human, and more hopeful moments.

The first phase of These Days 21 January 2020 - 20 January 2026 concluded part the way through the eighth roll.
